An Efficient Monte-Carlo Simulation for the Dynamic Reliability Analysis of Jacket Platforms Subjected to Random Wave Loads

The growing demand for the application of jacket platforms in deep water requires more attention on assessment structural reliability. This paper is devoted to dynamic reliability analysis subjected random wave loads with Monte-Carlo simulation (MCS), which a sample size order magnitude 104 105 repeated time–history analyses required small failure probability problems, and duration time up three hours needs be considered specific sea condition. To tackle difficulty involved MCS, explicit time-domain method (ETDM) used platforms, truncated expressions critical responses regards contributing loading terms are first established then numerous analyses. use ETDM greatly enhances computational efficiency making it feasible under loads. A platform 11,688 degrees freedom was analyzed evaluation given condition, indicating accuracy present approach its feasibility practical structures.
